The overfloor systems that we offer here at Underfloor Heating Direct can easily be fitted over just about any solid subfloor, such as plywood, floorboards or screed floors. They are likewise compatible with solid surfaces like existing wooden or tile floors.

We sell 2 different types of overfloor panels

Our range encompasses two distinct varieties of overfloor panelling. This installation system is arguably the most popular on the market, as it is highly cost effective and the pipes are covered in concrete or screed, which allows a whole floor area to warm up like one big storage radiator.

Floating Floor Panels

  • This option is great for use with floating floors like those made of engineered wood, 18mm floor-grade chipboard or even laminate. It is, however, always advisable to check with the manufacturer first, to ensure compatibility.
  • Made from high-quality XPS insulation, these boards come with an aluminium foil covering that works to ensure that heat dissipates evenly. During the installation process, all you have to do is lay the boards onto the existing solid substrate, placing the piping into the pre-formed grooves. When the system has been tested, you can then float your laminate or wooden floor on top of it.

Solid Floor Panels

  • The solid option, on the other hand, is suitable for use with stone or tiled floors, as in a typical bathroom or kitchen area. Again, these boards are made with XPS insulation and pre-formed grooves, into which the pipe can be clipped. Once this is done, the whole surface is covered with a flexible levelling compound, preparing it for the adhesive and the tiles.
  • As with floating floor panels, you are best checking suitability with the manufacturer of your tiles.
