Mapei Primer G
Mapei Primer G is a synthetic resin primer in water dispersion with very low volatile organic compounds (VOC). It is designed to prepare and stabilise a variety of surfaces, improving adhesion for smoothing compounds, tiling, and wall finishes in both wet and electrical underfloor heating systems. Ideal for use on gypsum, cementitious, anhydrite, and mixed surfaces, it ensures a consistent substrate for durable floor and wall installations.
Key Features and Benefits
- Enhances adhesion of smoothing compounds, adhesives, and plasters.
- Reduces dusting and stabilises absorbent surfaces for even application.
- Low VOC formulation for safer indoor environments.
- Compatible with both wet underfloor heating screeds and electrical floor systems.
- Quick drying, allowing efficient project progression.
- Easy to apply with brush, roller, or spray.
Suitable Applications and Compatibility
- Prepares gypsum boards, chipboard, cement fibre boards, foamed concrete, and renders before finishing.
- Improves adhesion of tile adhesives, levelling compounds, and decorative coatings.
- Acts as an anchoring coat for gypsum-based sprayable plasters.
- Compatible with cementitious and gypsum-based substrates in both new build and refurbishment projects.
Role In Underfloor Heating
Using Primer G ensures a uniform substrate, which is essential for the efficient performance of both wet and electrical underfloor heating systems. It stabilises surfaces to prevent cracking, enhances bonding of levelling compounds, and contributes to long-term durability of floor finishes. This ensures even heat distribution and reduces the risk of adhesion-related failures over time.
Guidance
- Dilute Primer G with water according to substrate absorption.
- Apply evenly using a brush or roller, ensuring full coverage.
- Allow primer to dry completely before applying levelling compounds, adhesives, or subsequent layers.
- Use multiple coats on highly absorbent surfaces as required.
